Video tutorial assignment using Camtasia Studio

It was a pleasure to use the Camtasia Studio. I have learnt new ideas about how to make my teaching more engaging with the use of Video recorder software Camtasia Studio. Now I am  going to describe how I have created my video tutorial using Camtasia Studio. 

I got the topic "occupation" from class I textbook. After selecting the topic I started collecting  information from the textbook, Google and YouTube. I created PowerPoint Presentation with  information that I have collected. 

While creating PowerPoint presentation, I have added images which I have downloaded google to make my presentation more enriching and informative. I also added there animations and transitions in my ppt. After creating the presentation slides, I have practiced recording the PowerPoint Presentation in the Camtasia Studio to make sure that my video was for 10 minutes.

Finally, I have recorded my PowerPoint presentation in the Camtasia Studio. To record the video I wore Kira to look presentable. I have tried recording the video tutorial for more than five times as I was feeling nervous and not able to say the right information. Following are some of the steps that I have followed while recording the video; 

•  Open the PowerPoint presentation. 
•  Minimized the presentation and double click on Camtasia studio icon. o Click on 'Record Screen' to capture the PowerPoint. o kept the Webcam button 'ON'. 
•  Clicked on "PowerPoint show" to record. 
•  Made some adjustment in the screen to fit my PPT. 
•  Started recording the presentation by clicking on the Record button. 
•  It was displayed on the count down l, 2 and 3 then I started recording the voice narration. o Press 10 to stop 'the recording. 
•  Clicked on Save and edit to save the recorded video. o Clicked on "produce and share" option. 
•  When the recorded video was ready, I clicked on "Next Button" o Then gave file name as "Video tutorial" and saved the video file to desktop. 
•  After the rending project has completed to 100%, I clicked on finish button. 

Importance of video tutorial for students

a. Provides Variety

-Video tutorials offer a multidimensional experience that combine charts, slides, photos, graphics, narration, screenshots, on-screen captions, music and live video. This allows students with different learning abilities to retain information in a method more suited them.

b. Allows for Repetition

-The ability to pause, rewind, stop and play a recorded video tutorial helps students replay important points that they need to remember, which is essential for memory retention to prepare for exams.

c. Independent learning - accessible anywhere, any time

-It doesn't matter where you are; if you have Wi-Fi, you can get online and find tutorials. You have the ability to teach yourself to do something anytime and anywhere you go.

Hello everyone,

This is my third blog. I hope that after reading this blog it will help everyone to get some knowledge about the ICT tools that are in the Google app. 

Co-constructive tool refers to

those tools which can be used to manipulate information, construct their own knowledge or visualize students understanding. 

Google classroom is an example of ICT as a constructive tool. This is an amazing online platform because it allows the teacher provide reading materials to the students. Teacher can also assign quiz assignments to the students and they can submit their assignments online without any difficulty.  We can also add answer keys and feedbacks to the questions that we have created. 

Like face to face learning, this tool also allows the teacher to make announcements whenever necessary. Teachers can also invite co teachers and invite all students or only a selected students.
 

Importance of Google Classroom in Education

1. Easy to use and Accessible from all devices

Apart from being delivered through the Chrome browser, which makes it accessible from all computers, mobile phones, tablets, it makes it really easy for us to create google documents to manage assignments and announcements, post you tube videos, add links or attach files from the drive. 

2. Effective feedback

Google Classroom gives us the opportunity to offer  online support to our learners right away; this means that feedback becomes more effective, as fresh comments and remarks have bigger impact on learners’ minds.

3. Speed up the Assignment Process

In Google classroom we can easily check who has submitted their assignment and who is still working on it and offer immediate feedback to their learning. 

Another example of ICT as a co constructive tool is Google docs where we can form a group and let students discuss about a particular topic. For an example, the picture below shows the discussion that we have carried out on the topic 'our country' with our group members. 

Familiarizing with this ICT tools is very important because to teach effectively in the class, this are some of the basic things that we have to know. By knowing about this tools we can provide a wide variety of learning platforms to our students. 

Even if we have to learn and teach through online platforms, we can do it effectively without any difficulty by using these tools. In conclusion, I can say that these lessons were very effective for me as a teacher. By knowing this tools helped me realize that ICT indeed is a great subject to study for the future of the students and ourselves.

VLE (Virtual Learning Environment)

A virtual learning environment (VLE) is a collaborative platform that enables a better learning delivery. It is useful for all educators to perform their jobs more efficiently and at the same time allows us to do schoolwork from anywhere. A VLE features all sorts of resources, including training, activities, interactions, and assessments. 

Till date the easiest and the most comfortable ICT tool that I came across is VLE. Due to pandemic, we face difficulties to access the necessary information whenever  required. So, VLE makes our learning easier and it is an incredible tool that everyone can get access to. VLE is an integrated tool which enables the management to deliver mechanism, student tracking, assessment and access to resources.

It is one of the most prominent ICT tool that we can use daily in our teaching and learning environment. Our college also provides VLE services to the students and through this website we can easily get access to announcements, module assignments, learning materials, time table and other online services. Besides providing countless services during the online learning, VLE even provides equal service during face to face learning. To get access to information and announcements, we don't have to move from place to place as we can easily know by going through the VLE website. 

Features of Virtual learning environment

1. Wide range of course resources and tools are available

Through VLE, teachers can provide us assignments and we can complete and submit online by doing it

in a variety of ways. To encourage student interaction, classrooms and forums are used. We can also use email, as well as office and multimedia suites, to create our coursework.

2. Easy access to learning materials

Help the tutors to upload required learning materials where users can easily get access to them. It helps us to stay organized through an easily accessible location for all class materials.

3. Assessment tools

Educators can see how students react to their materials, which can help them improve course content and provide feedback to students.

4. Flexible scheduling and Testing 

Tutors can construct a variety of assessments and students can choose their own schedules. 

Advantages of Virtual Learning Environment

1. Accessibility

One of the major benefits of virtual teaching and learning is that it allows students to study at any time of day from anywhere in the world. All we  need is a computer or phone with access to the internet. The materials uploaded by the teacher can be easily accessed with internet without any difficulty.

2. Conserves time and energy

 Since we can study from anywhere at any time, it saves time and energy. We don't have to wait for others to complete our own work and assignments. We can do it before the due date or whenever we feel like doing. Without having to go anywhere, we can delete and edit our work at anytime which is very flexible and comfortable for our learning.

3. Study at our own pace

We can study whenever it is most convenient for us and learn at our own pace.  Virtual learning allows us to go back or repeat any lessons that were especially difficult for us to understand. Also, if we don't  have enough time to finish class, we can always pause it and resume it later. Ex; Whenever I face difficulty in understanding the lessons delivered by my teacher in the class, I visit the VLE page and read the materials uploaded there to make myself clear.

4. Keep ourselves Updated

We can keep ourselves track on what is going on in and around our surroundings. We can keep ourselves updated on the materials and assignments uploaded by the teacher. Without having to go from place to place, we can go to the VLE and check the announcements made by the tutors and the college management.

Telegram

Telegram is a messaging service where it provides the freedom to video call, share files, voice chat and other important features like sharing videos and images. It is a messaging software that provides greater security than any other apps. 

We can send photographs, videos, and audio as part of their messages; it's a fairly secure messaging program, and you won't lose a lot of data unless you upload or download large things; talking only uses MB of data, and telegram's features are really attractive, with backgrounds and noises. This pictures are some of the proves that taking online classes through telegram is as interesting as face to face learning.

Telegram has been one of the most amazing ICT tool that is used by every common people nowadays. But it takes a greater role for educational purposes where we can easily get access to information and materials uploaded by our teacher. Due to covid situation we had to take online classes regularly. During this pandemic,  Telegram with its amazing features helped us to conduct our classes normal like what we learn and teach in face to face learning.

Telegram is an app that we can easily download from the play store and install it in our device. Once we create a telegram account we don’t need passwords and student IDs to login like other device. So, its flexibility and simplicity makes learning way better and interesting.

By using telegram as a means of learning;

•  Teachers can upload the reading materials freely
•  Students can refer the materials whenever required
• When there is fluctuation in usage of other device like VLE, we can easily switch to telegram to carry out the discussion
•  Carry out question answer sessions appropriately promoting voluntarism
•   Less cost
• Supports large amount of people saving time and money

Nowadays we find ourselves in front of many applications and software that appear on a daily basis for the purpose of social networking, but few of us are looking for the possibility of using them in education. Therefore, the importance of social media programs, sites, applications and software in the educational process increases.

 As educators, we should look for the possibility of investing the means and applications of social communication in the educational process in a practical and functional manner, with the aim of facilitating a lot of tasks for the teacher and the learner in the educational process. Telegram can be used even in face to face learnig
